Whether you’re amped up for the Super Bowl itself or the commercials, we’re betting you’re going to be eating…a lot. Here are a few suggestions to sip with your favorite Super Bowl food.
Chardonnay is going to be a great pairing with your dips like seven-layer dip or guacamole, as long as it’s not too spicy. The wines most suited to this spectrum are ones that are medium to low in alcohol, wines that are refreshing, and wines with crisp acidity, like a Pinot Grigio.
If there is pizza at the party, key wines to consider here would be a medium-bodied Syrah or Shiraz, an Italian Chianti, a medium-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, or a California Zinfandel. This is because these wines have lower acid levels. The tomato sauce will contribute plenty of acid on its own.
A full-bodied red blend, preferably Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah work well with salty and savory sandwiches. Specifically Italian subs. For example, the spicy fruit and herbs of Syrah can handle it’s peppery heat.
If you’re bringing the salad like we are, try a Dry Rosé, an Oaked Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc to complement the light dish.
No matter who you’re rooting for in the Super Bowl, we hope you’ll have something to cheer for with tons of tasty food and wine!
